Welcome to Wisdom Play Therapy
What is Play Therapy?
As an adult, if you find yourself struggling with a particular aspect of your life, you may decide to go to talking therapy. Children often do not have the words to describe how they are feeling and may not be able to explain what caused them to feel that way. In Play Therapy, toys can represent those words, and the way they are played with forms the language that children use to communicate to us about their inner world. Play Therapists are trained to spot subtle themes in the child’s play, along with changes in body language, facial expressions and energy levels. The therapist responds by reflecting back something that the child is trying to show them in their play, or sometimes they will join in with the play if it will benefit the child. Play Therapy is child-led, so the child decides how they use their time in the playroom because they know exactly what they need to choose to help them heal. The sessions are taken at the child’s own pace, and nothing is rushed.
